Make here like Heaven

Before Jesus ascended to the Father, post-Resurrection, He left the disciples with a mandate (Matthew 28:18-20)—

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

We often refer to these words as the Great Commission, that is, the final send-off. In this statement, Jesus propelled His followers— disciples past, present, and future— to go “make disciples.”

Notice, He didn’t suggest we just go “teach doctrine” (though beliefs are important).

Nor did He tell us to just go “teach people to do their duty” (though responsibility and accountability matter).

He said to do make “disciples,” other followers who could emulate His way of life in such a way that His practices and His presence infused every part of their lives.

What would they do to?

Quite simply, make HERE and bit more like HEAVEN.
